Partial Overnight French Language Summer Camp
for French immersion and Francophone students
This program is cancelled in 2021. Please stay tuned for updates about 2022!
Unique to Camp Tournesol, this short “away from home” trip gives campers a taste of adventure and independence… all in French. French immersion or Francophone students in grades 1 to 6 are all welcome.
We offer this program twice a summer: Session 1 July 13th-17th & Session 2 July 20th-24th
- 2+3: 2 days at traditional day camp plus 3 days in our overnight camp.
The partial week formula is unique to Camp Tournesol. Unlike most French camps, we allow campers to come for two days to one of our 15 campuses for our French day camps to meet our staff and connect with other campers. Our Tournesol buses then visit each French campus on Wednesday to pick up campers and travel together to the overnight location. This shortened overnight French immersion program is perfect for students who like discovering new places and making new friends, but are not yet ready for the full overnight experience.
For all of our partial week trips, round-trip transportation to the overnight destination is included in the fee.
Please note that there must be 4 campers at a day campus to ensure a pick up.
During these trips, all meals and activities are included, both at the day camp (provided by our caterer – check out the menu here) and at the destination.
There is a maximum of 45 campers on each trip and a minimum of 20 is required.

The Stay:
Situated on 263 acres of breath-taking countryside located on the Oak Ridges Moraine and Ontario GreenBelt, Cedar Glen is the perfect backdrop for an outdoor retreat. The sleeping accommodations are quaint wooden lodges adjacent to the Main Lodge. Each room has a private washroom and shower.
The Fun:
During our stay at this French overnight camp, we will:
- challenge ourselves on the low ropes and high ropes challenge course;
- try our hand at archery;
- splash in one of the 2 large pools on site;
- partake in a HUGE game of animal survival in one of the best courses we have seen anywhere;
- rock wall climbing;
- of course, enjoy an awesome campfire with sing-a-long French songs and folk tales;
- make traditional friendship bracelets;
- do team building exercises in a giant maze;
- build a shelter/fort;
- play Running Pictionary / gaga ball / soccer / volleyball and much more!
Sadly, the fun comes to an end mid-afternoon Friday. Your children will return home tired but filled with new memories of having learned new skills and built new friendships.

“That was awesome. I give that camp 10 stars out of 10 stars. It was fun hanging out with people that aren’t related to you. Can I go again next year? The food was pretty good as well.”
“The staff at camp Tournesol (counselors and admin staff) are fantastic – helpful and friendly. I felt my son was in good hands for his first overnight trip.”
“The Cedar Glen trip was my daughters first experience away from home and at a french speaking camp. The Councillors were great and she loved all of the activities that were offered during her stay. It was a great learning experience for her and she was so exhausted by the end of each day that she didn’t even miss technology.”
